About Klondike Solitaire

Klondike Solitaire is the card game most people simply call "Solitaire". Deal seven tableau columns, flip cards from the stock, and build four foundation piles from Ace to King in each suit. Alternating-colour stacking, click-to-move, and a fresh shuffled deck every game — no download required.

How to play Klondike Solitaire

  1. Goal: Move all 52 cards to the four foundation piles, one per suit, built up from Ace to King.
  2. Tableau: Seven columns — you can stack cards in descending rank with alternating colours (e.g. a red 9 on a black 10). You may move a face-up sequence as a unit.
  3. Stock & Waste: Click the stock pile to turn over one card at a time to the waste pile. When the stock is empty, click it again to reset the waste face-down.
  4. Moving cards: Click a card (or start of a face-up sequence) to select it — it highlights. Then click a valid destination: another tableau column, an empty column (Kings only), or a foundation.
  5. Foundations: Build each suit pile starting with the Ace. Cards go to foundations automatically when you click "Send to foundation" with one card selected.

Tips for winning Solitaire

  • Uncover face-down cards as fast as possible — especially in deep columns like column 7.
  • Don't move a King to an empty column unless it unlocks a face-down card sequence.
  • Avoid sending cards to foundations too early if you need them for tableau moves (e.g. a black 3 might be needed to unblock a red 4 before both go to foundations).
  • Keep at least one empty column open when you can — it's the most flexible resource in the game.
